Kids Martial Arts & BJJ

Support your martial arts training with sessions focused on strength, mobility, and long-term athletic development.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

Technique-based grappling focused on control, leverage, and problem-solving. Suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners.

Kickboxing

Structured striking training using pads and drills to build fitness, confidence, and solid fundamentals in a safe, fun, energetic environment.

MMA Training

A complete martial arts system combining striking and grappling. Designed for skill development, fitness, and optional competitive progression.

Strength & Conditioning

Improve strength, fitness, mobility and performance in upstairs S&C studio. We work with people of all different experience and fitness levels

Smaller class sizes, better training

We offer 1:1 and Semi-Private training, but we also keep our class sizes small to ensure every student gets proper coaching and attention. This allows our instructors to correct technique, maintain safety, and help each person progress at their own pace. Smaller classes create a focused, supportive environment where beginners feel comfortable and experienced students continue to improve — without being lost in the crowd.

ABOUT OUR ACADEMY

Pikeman Martial Arts is a community-driven martial arts academy based in Wexford, dedicated to authentic training and long-term development.
Founded by former professional MMA fighter Brian “The Pikeman” Moore, the academy was created to provide real martial arts in a structured and supportive environment.
Our coaching is rooted in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Kickboxing, with a strong emphasis on fundamentals and progression.
We believe martial arts should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience.
From children stepping onto the mats for the first time to adults pursuing new challenges, every student is supported.
Safety, discipline, and respect are central to how we train.
Small class sizes allow our coaches to give individual attention and ensure quality instruction.
We support both recreational members and competitive athletes, without pressure or ego.
Over time, our kids’ program has grown into one of the largest in Ireland.

Is there a waiting list for Kids Classes?

Yes, there is currently a waiting list in place but we do all we can to get the kids in ASAP. WhatsApp me to get added to our waiting list

Do I need any experience to start?

No experience is needed at all. Most people who join have never trained before. Classes are structured so beginners can learn safely and progress at their own pace

What age can children start training?

Our youngest members are 3 years old! But I would recommend for most children that 5 or when they are in school, is a perfect age to start! Classes are age and skill appropriate and focus on confidence, coordination, and discipline in a safe environment. 

Am I too old to start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

No. BJJ is suitable for adults of all ages. Many people start in their 40s, 50s, or later. Training focuses on technique rather than strength or athleticism. I know I won't be stopping when I'm on the pension!

Do I need to be fit before I join?

No. You don’t need to be fit to start — training will help you build fitness over time. Classes are scalable, and you’re encouraged to work at your own level.

What should I wear for my first class?

Comfortable sportswear is fine for your first session. If you continue training, the coaches will advise you on suitable equipment such as a gi or gloves, depending on the class.

Is training safe?

Safety is a priority. Classes are structured, supervised, and focused on controlled training. Techniques are taught progressively, and students are encouraged to train responsibly.

Are classes suitable for beginners and advanced students together?

Yes. Most classes are designed so beginners and experienced students can train together safely. We keep our class sizes small to ensure we can work with all levels. Coaches ensure everyone is paired appropriately and learning at the right level.

Do you offer competition training?

Yes. There are pathways for students who wish to compete, but competition is completely optional. The majority of our members train purely for fitness, confidence, or enjoyment.

Can parents watch kids’ classes?

Yes. Parents are welcome to watch classes in our seated area, especially when children are new. This helps kids feel comfortable and allows parents to see how classes are run.

How do I get started?

The easiest way to get started is to message us on WhatsApp with any questions. I will check availability, help you choose the right class and arrange your first session.
